Good morning and happy Wednesday, everyone. Welcome back to another edition of Around the A10, brought to you (as always) by The Vault Network!
We saw eight Atlantic 10 teams take the court on Tuesday night as part of four league matchups. Here are the headlines from each game:
VCU Dominates Rhode Island to Win Fifth Straight
In a battle of the Rams versus the Rams, VCU (15-4, 5-1 A10) emerged victorious thanks to a 24-point performance (10/18 FG, 2/6 3PT) from graduate senior guard Joe Bamisile. Ryan Odom's club was predictably dominant- particularly on the defensive end, as they held URI (14-5, 3-4 A10) to just 38.8% (19/49) shooting for the game and forced 27- yes, 27- turnovers to just 6 Rhode Island assists.
And so, make it five in a row for VCU, who has rebounded (no pun intended) after falling to Saint Bonaventure, 77-75, in their A10 season opener back on December 31st, 2024. For Rhode Island, meanwhile, it's back to the drawing board- again. Rhody has alternated between wins and losses throughout conference play thus far, and they looked overwhelmed in this one, being outscored 41-23 in the second half of Tuesday's contest. The team was led in scoring by Sebastian Thomas (19 points, 7/12 FG), who had his streak of scoring 20 points or more in games halted at eight contests.
